Pokémon Yellow is the remake to the Red/Blue Versions. It is modeled after the anime, and the many changes made since Red/Blue reflect the anime's influence.

Major Changes
*The most important one is how the player starts out with Pikachu instead of being able to choose Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. The Pikachu follows behind the player and the player can check on Pikachu's facial expressions to seeing how it's feeling.
*The player can still get Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in-game after special events.
*Gym Leaders have their lineups changed to reflect the anime. For instance, Lt. Surge only has a single Raichu instead of the Voltorb, Pikachu, and Raichu he used in Red/Blue.
*Certain Pokémon can learn new level-up moves or have their level-up moves changed. For instance, Pikachu learns Thunderbolt instead of Swift and the Nidorans learn Double Kick earlier.
*Players can unlock a special Surfing Pikachu minigame.

Some Pokémon won't appear in the Yellow Version and must be traded from Red/Blue. Also, Mew is unobtainable in-game as well.
